CAMOTES ISLAND, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Saturday (August 31) the listing of passenger vessel MV Mika Mari 8 at Port of Consuelo in the municipality of San Francisco.
According to authorities, the operation was prompted by a call from the vessel’s owner Jomalia shipping corp informing them about the incident.
Initial investigation reveals that the vessel lost its balance while in the process of disembarking rolling cargo.
The PCG Camotes then sent CGSS San Francisco QRT to assist the passengers.
All 149 passengers and 18 crewmen on board were safely rescued, according to authorities.
