MANILA, Philippines – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday said it is now coordinating with its foreign counterparts after receiving an intelligence report that Manila’s alleged ‘drug queen’ Guia Gomez Castro has entered the United States.
NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Eleazar said Castro was with her husband and brother, former police officer Bumbo Gomez when they traveled to the US.
Eleazar said that on September 21, Castro left the country for Bangkok, Thailand then went to Taiwan on September 25 before arriving in the US.
The NCRPO chief said they received the information after the creation of quad-intel force composed of various law enforcement agencies in Metro Manila, including the Philippine drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – Joint Task Force (JTF).
He added they are now working for the cancelation of Castro’s passport. They are also looking into extraditing Castro from the US to face charges.
Castro has three standing warrants of arrest.
The first one was issued in 2002 for violation of Section 15 of Republic Act 6425 or the selling, delivery and distribution of illegal drugs. She also has warrants issued in 2003 and 2011 for violating Batas Pambansa (BP) Bilang 22 or the law penalizing the issuance of bouncing checks.
Eleazar said Castro and her relatives are also under financial investigation. – RRD (with details from Correspondent Lea Ylagan)
