Two of the biggest telecommunications in the country has announced they will push through with the 8-digit landline migration on October 6.
Globe Telecom Inc. said landline numbers of Globe and Bayan in Greater Manila will be migrated to 8-digit telephone numbers based on the order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) in October last year.
In a statement, Globe general counsel Froilan Castelo said they are coordinating with the NTC to assist customers before, after and during the migration.
“We are ready to migrate all customers with landline in Greater Metro Manila to eight-digit telephone numbers,” he said.
The NTC issued Memorandum Order 10-10-2017, directing telcos to migrate to an 8-digit telephone number to accommodate the increase in the number of customers in major cities.—AAC
