MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in a statement Sunday (October 6) maintained its support for any investigation on illegal drugs cases despite allegations implicating active police officials.
Aside from the police officers already being linked to the case, reports said two more police officers are allegedly involved in the controversy.
The PNP, however, expressed clarification on the matter.
“Maliban sa isinagawang imbestigasyon ng Senado, wala tayong nalalaman o natatanggap na anumang ulat na mayroong pang matataas na opisyal ng pulisya sa kasalukuyan na diumanoy sangkot sa iligal na droga,” the statement said issued by the PNP-PIO.
(Apart from the ongoing investigation in Senate, we haven’t received any information involving other police officials allegedly involved in illegal drugs.)
The PNP is confident that President Rodrigo Duterte’s trust in the PNP leadership remains specifically in PNP Chief Police General Oscar Albayalde despite his name being dragged in the alleged drug recycling controversy.
The entire police force is asking for continuous support from the public amid the accusations hounding its leader, and promised to keep up with its mandate as the main law enforcement agency in the country.
“Tinitiyak natin sa publiko na ang PNP ay mananatiling tapat, propesyonal at disiplinado, at patuloy ang maigting na kampanya laban sa kriminalidad, iligal na droga, gayundin ang internal cleansing,” the statement read.
(We assure the public that the PNP will remain honest, professional and disciplined and will uphold a strong campaign against criminality, illegal drugs, as well as its continuous internal cleansing.)
“Ang lahat ng lalabag sa batas ay dapat mapanagot at hindi natin hahayaan na manatili ang mga tiwaling pulis sa ating hanay,” the statement concluded.
(Anyone who will violate the law must be sanctioned and we will not tolerate erring cops among our ranks.)
