MANILA, Philippines – National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Police Major Guillermo Eleazar visited his men who are members of the “Strike Force” deployed inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Eleazar said he wants to check on their conditions and if they are implementing the necessary measures inside the national penitentiary.
“Nakita natin from the entrance gate pati sa loob at doon sa observation post, kapag ikot natin doon ay puro NCRPO personnel na ang nandon na siyang tumutulong sa Bureau of Corrections,” he said.
(We observed from the entrance gate to the inside premises and the observation post, we see NCRPO personnel are now the ones who are supporting the members of the Bureau of Corrections.)
“Dapat ang mga ito ay hindi ma-tempt sa mga naging problema noong dati dito (They should not be tempted and be involved in similar problems as before),” he added.
BuCor Director General Gerlad Bantag, meanwhile, said he ordered to place under training all former policemen of the BuCor and he assured those with a bad record would no longer be reinstated.
“Magre-recruit tayo (We will recruit),” Bantag said.
“Iyong hiring tayo syempre iyan ini-evaluate nga sila. Kung sino ang pwedeng ibalik, ibabalik (We are hiring so they are being evaluated. Whoever is qualified to be reinstated, will be reinstated),” he added.
Eleazar noted that the deployment of his men inside the NBP is only temporary until Bantag has ordered for their replacement.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Force NCR and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) who are members of the Quad Intel Force will be on standby to support and help in the ‘cleansing’ of the BuCor.
“Kung ano ang suporta na kailangan sa amin (Whatever support that they would be needing from us) from intel gathering information, sharing of information up to K-9, bubuhos po kami dyan (We will be all out),” said PDEA NCR Investigation Agent 5 Beltran Lacap Jr.
“We will always be providing support to NCRPO, in intelligence gathering,” added JTF-NCR AFP Lt. Col. Eugene Villaluz.
“If you need some sort of manpower,” Villaluz added.
On Friday (October 11), the NCRPO deployed a total of 551 cops to the NBP. – MNP (with details from Lea Ylagan)
