Malacanang has revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte is doing his own search for the next deserving leader of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President has never depended on recommendations, instead, he does his own evaluation before selecting an official for a certain government position.
Panelo added that Duterte’s criteria for the next PNP chief only include competency and honesty. But a good reputation is also of great significance.
On his part, Duterte stated that he also needs to consult others and be cautious in choosing the next chief of the National Police.
“I have to consult everybody. Maya-maya, madapa na naman, tapos ako ang magkaroon ng problema,” said Duterte.
