
MANILA, Philippines – Number of fatalities in the aftermath of Typhoon Ursula has already climbed to 16, according to the latest data of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
These casualties were reported in Regions VI and VIII while six others remain missing.
Based on NDRRMC’s latest data, the typhoon has affected more than 12,000 families in Luzon and Visayas.
More than 10,000 remain in evacuation centers while power lines remain cut in several municipalities.
The extent of damage prompted the provincial governments of Capiz and Leyte to declare a state of calamity to immediately address the needs of the residents in affected areas. — MNP (with inputs from Vincent Arboleda)
