A motorcycle rider was arrested in San Fernando, Pampanga for running over a Land Transportation Office (LTO) enforcer after trying to escape due to violation.
In a Facebook post, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Communications and Commuter Affairs Goddes Hope Libiran reported that witnesses saw LTO enforcer Cris Canlas and LTO Enforcer Jerome Pamintuan were apprehending motorcycle rider Robert Jocson for not wearing a helmet.
However, instead of stopping, Jocson tried to run over Canlas. Canlas was able to avoid Jocson, who then aimed for Pamintuan.
“Matapos banggain si Pamintuan, tumakas pa umano si Jocson ngunit bumangga naman sa isang truck, na naging dahilan kaya ito ay naabutan at nahuli ng mga pulis (After aiming for Pamintuan, Jocson tried to escape but he collided into a truck and police officers were able to make an arrest),” according to Libiran’s post.
Based on further investigations, authorities found that Jocson also has an expired motorcycle registration and had no license. He also tried to provide false information regarding his true identity and address.
Jocson is now detained at the San Fernando Police Station while Pamintuan is confined at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Pamintuan sustained knee and head injuries. He is scheduled to undergo an operation on Monday (March 2).—AAC
