President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered for the military to remain in Marawi City to fend off extremists that would threaten order in the region.
During a meeting on updates regarding the Marawi Rehabilitation on Wednesday (March 4), the Chief Executive appealed to the people of Marawi to support the deployment of soldiers in the city.
He also assured the residents that the military will remain deployed to fight against terrorists and not Maranaos.
“I’m not after the Maranao. Iyang military, hindi ang Maranao ang hinahanap niyan [but] the terrorists that terrorize everybody,” he said.
“It’s the age of terrorism so we will just have to do something about it. Come up with something that can mitigate. My decision to build a military camp there will remain,” he added.
