MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City Medical Center-South will go on a seven-day lockdown after several medical staff tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The temporary closure of the facility, including its emergency room, will start at 12:00 noon on Friday (July 17) until 12:00 noon on Thursday (July 23).
In a statement, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan said the infected frontliners, which includes several nurses and medical technologists, are already undergoing quarantine while the city health office is conducting an intensified contact tracing to individuals who had interaction with them.
While on lockdown, the CCMC assures to attend to the medical needs of all patients admitted in the facility.
Also, the center’s out-patient service located at the Old City Hall Plaza and the Caloocan City North Medical Center (CCNMC) will remain open.
Malapitan, meanwhile, announced that the CCMC has already reached ‘overflowing capacity’ for COVID-19 patients
“Kaya naman, hinihikayat natin ang publiko na dalhin ang mga positibo o suspected Covid-19 patients sa ibang ospital para sa agarang lunas (That is why we urge the public to bring positive or suspected COVID-19 patients to other hospitals for immediate treatment),” the Mayor appealed.
