The Supreme Court (SC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have launched the ‘e-warrant system’ in a bid to speed up the administration of justice in the country.
According to SC Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, the SC now allows courts to digitally transmit arrest warrants which the PNP will use to apprehend the individuals involved. The SC aims to implement the e-warrant system in about 2,600 courts and 1,900 police stations before the year ends.
“We are able to adopt technologically advanced innovations in our court processes for a more accessible, efficient, effective and responsive administration of justice,” he said.
The PNP will be given 10 days to report the serving of warrant in the online database system. Members of the PNP and the SC will also undergo online training on the utilization of the e-warrant system.
Meanwhile, PNP Chief PGen. Camilo Cascolan said the e-warrant system will hasten the process of arresting suspects and resolving cases.
“The e-warrant system will contribute in securing an ideal scale of effectiveness in crime solution,” he said. AAC (with reports from Lea Ylagan)
