MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte has authorized the grant of up to P3,000 year-end gratuity pay for the contract of service and job order workers in the government, according to a document released by Malacañang on Monday.
Under Administrative Order No. 38, signed on December 28, Duterte said workers who have rendered at least four months of “actual satisfactory performance of services” as of December 15, and whose contracts are still effective as of the same date “may be granted a one-time gratuity pay not exceeding P3,000 each.”
Those who have rendered less than four months of service may still be granted gratuity pay on the following pro rata basis:
- 3 months or more but less than 4 months not exceeding P2,000
- 2 months or more but less than 3 months not exceeding P1,500
- Less than 2 months not exceeding P1,000
The order covers workers whose services are engaged by national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and -controlled corporations, and local water districts.
Duterte said in his order that granting a year-end gratuity pay to contract of service and job order workers is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work in implementing programs, projects, and activities, including those which are part of the emergency COVID-19 response efforts of the government.
Local government units are also encouraged to adopt in their respective officers the grant of gratuity pay to contractual and job order government workers, utilizing appropriate and available funding sources from their respective local government funds.
