Presidential Security Group (PSG) commander BGen. Jesus Durante on Wednesday (December 30) said he will take full responsibility for the unregistered vaccines administered to several PSG personnel.
Durante said that they did the vaccination “independently” and it was their own mandate to proceed with the vaccination process.
“We vaccinated ourselves. It’s so easy… I take full responsibility for our actions here. I take full responsibility being the commander of the PSG,” he said in a statement.
Durante said only the President’s close-in security were inoculated with the vaccine.
He had earlier said that they made the decision to protect the President.
He also added that the PSG conducted its own research regarding the safety of the traditional vaccine.
Durante said the vaccines were donated and no government funds were used in getting the vaccines. -AAC (with reports from Rosalie Coz)
