
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has announced that no new case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection has been reported among overseas Filipinos on the last day of the year, Thursday (December 31).
In an advisory, the DFA said this maintains the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and recoveries at 12,876 and 8,387, respectively.
Likewise, the agency reported the number of overseas Filipinos still undergoing treatment is at 3,578.
Across regions, the number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad as of December 31 is highest in the Middle East/Africa with 7,658.
This was followed by the Asia Pacific region with 2,664; Europe with 1,772; and the Americas with 782.
The DFA vows to continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos, assist and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible, and promote measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
