MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private, as well as work in the city government for Saturday (January 9).

The suspension is meant to allow Catholic devotees to participate in online activities for the annual feast of Black Nazarene.

Along with the suspension of classes is the ban on sale of liquor items and any other alcoholic beverages within the Quiapo area.

The suspension of work in all offices of the city government exempts those working in the frontline service which includes peace and order, public services, traffic enforcement, disaster and health services.

Meanwhile, suspension of work in national government offices and private companies within the jurisdiction of Manila City is left to the discretion of their respective heads or management.
