MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) seized P13.6 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City, where a Nigerian national was killed.
In a report of PNP-DEG Director PBGen. Ronald Lee, the Nigerian national identified as Christopher Chukwuma was an alleged member of West African Drug Syndicate.
Authorities posed as buyers of illegal drugs during the operation. The suspects were able to perceive the said operation which led to an armed encounter.
Suspects attempted to take the firearms of the police and tried to fire back.
Chukwuma is a resident of Angeles City, Pampanga and was reported to have escaped in a previous drug operation of the PNP in Tarlac last December 31, 2020. -AAC (with reports from Lea Ylagan)
