MANILA, Philippines — A large stockpile of Nubain (nalbuphine hydrochloride) was confiscated by authorities during a buy-bust operation conducted along Sangi Road, Barangay Pajo in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Tuesday, January 12, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
The PNP said that during the anti-drug operation launched by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), operatives seized 21,600 ampules of Nubain worth P5.4 million.
The drugs were allegedly imported from Pakistan and was forwarded to Cebu via a local forwarding company, the police added.
The PNP noted that the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) has included Nubain among the list of dangerous drugs because of its addictive properties. It has also been found to be the fifth most commonly encountered drug of abuse by victims seeking treatment in various rehabilitation centers in the country.
Arrested during the operation was a certain Dioscoro Colo, 33, a cargo representative at FCS Cargo Services and a resident of Brgy Badian, Purok 2 Cebu Province.
The suspect is now under police custody for proper disposition and documentation.
