MANILA, Philippines – The government of San Juan City on Wednesday started using the COVID-19 vaccine doses that were developed by Pfizer-BioNTech.
In a Facebook live, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said the city received 11,700 doses for the two-dose vaccination of 5,850 recipients.
The city rolled out the Pfizer jabs following its arrival in the country on Monday night.
The Department of Health earlier said that the initial shipment of this vaccine will be allocated to Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao Cities that have facilities capable of handling the product’s temperature requirement of -70 degrees Celsius.
Aside from Pfizer, Zamora said they also received 12,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.
San Juan City has so far recorded 268 active COVID-19 cases from a high of 1,226 last April 12, the mayor said.
