MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to complete the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) connector before the end of 2021.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar conducted an inspection on Monday (May 17). He said that the construction is already 35% complete.
The NLEX connector will shorten travel time for vehicles plying NLEX and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
The initial five-kilometer has already been completed. The elevated expressway will also connect C3 Caloocan City to España, Manila.
“We can expect by this year at the last quarter this year mao-open na po ang España portion which is the 5-kilometer portion of the 9-kilometer alignment,” he said.

The NLEX Connector is among the projects under the national government’s Build Build Build Program.
Once it’s completed, it can accommodate 35,000 motorists. From the previous 2-hour drive, traversing to NLEX and SLEX would only take 20 minutes. -AAC (with reports from Janice Ingente)
