MANILA, Philippines – A total of 502,000 additional doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to the country on Friday, the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 said.
In a statement, the NTF said the shipment arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via China Airlines flight around 9 a.m.
The task force said the new vaccine supply was procured by local government units and the private sector through the ‘A Dose of Hope’ initiative.
NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said that 80 percent of these vaccines will be allocated to local government units.
A total of 2,811,100 AstraZeneca doses secured through tripartite agreements have been delivered to the Philippines.
The country is expecting to receive an additional half a million AstraZeneca doses next week, the task force said.
To date, the country has received a total of 53,294,130 COVID-19 vaccine doses from different manufacturers since February.
