MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is encouraging deactivated voters to reactivate their status before the registration deadline on September 30.
The recent data of Comelec showed that 61 million registered for the upcoming national elections in 2022.
However, there are still 6.1 million deactivated voters. These voters failed to vote in the past 2 consecutive elections.
Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said they can reactivate by sending an email to Comelec through their website.
“Para mag-reactivate hindi na kailangan pumunta ng Comelec office mag-email po kayo sa inyong Comelec officer (To reactivate, you don’t need to go to a Comelec office, just email your Comelec officer)” she said.
To know the complete list of email address and contacts of Comelec regional officers, interested deactivated voters can go to comelec.gov.ph.
Meanwhile, Guanzon said Comelec has yet to decide on the resolution filed by the Senate regarding the extension of voter registration.
The filing of candidacy for the 2022 polls is scheduled from October 1 to 8. The venue for the filing of candidacy has been moved from the Comelec central office to Sofitel Hotel tent in Pasay City. AAC (with reports from Dante Amento)
