MANILA, Philippines – The number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the Philippines since the pandemic started has reached 2,417,419 on Wednesday after 15,592 more infections were logged.
The Department of Health (DOH) said the latest figure pushed the country’s tally of active cases to 162,580.
Of these cases, 92 percent are mild, 3.0 percent are asymptomatic, 2.81 percent are moderate, 0.7 percent are critical, and 1.5 percent are in severe condition.
The DOH also reported that 24,059 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,217,611.
The death toll climbed to 37,228 with 154 new fatalities.
The DOH noted that all accredited testing laboratories in the country were operational on Sept. 20 but four laboratories failed to submit data on time.
A positivity rate of 24.9 percent was also recorded out of the 53,349 tests conducted on Monday.
