MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar has ordered the Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 to thoroughly investigate the two explosions that occurred inside the Legazpi City campus of Bicol University on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Eleazar said he has instructed PRO5 regional director Jonnel Estomo to focus on the case.
“I also directed the regional police leadership to coordinate with the university officials to discuss security measures in order to prevent the repeat of this incident,” he added.
Reports reaching the PNP chief’s office stated that the explosions came one after the other around 6:30 p.m. The blasts prompted the Explosives and Ordnance Group to immediately respond to the incident.
There was no reported casualty in the incident, the PNP said.
“Wala mang masyadong aktibidad ng mga estudyante at mga guro sa loob ng campus dahil sa pandemya. Kailangang alerto pa rin ang ating kapulisan laban sa mga ganitong uri ng pag-atake,” he added.
Eleazar appealed to those who have information about the explosions to come forward and help authorities in investigating the incident.
