MANILA, Philippines – Some P6 million worth of suspected marijuana were confiscated in Kapangan, Benguet, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.
In a statement, the PNP said operatives from the Kapangan Municipal Police Station seized the items from a Mitsubishi Montero they flagged down at a checkpoint in Barangay Lomon on October 3.
Three drug suspects, identified as Marry Ann Felipe Del Rosario, Simiano Tadina Patingan, and Jun Comot Colera, were arrested.
Police said the suspected marijuana was discovered inside their vehicle.
Colera also allegedly had a firearm tucked in his waist.
Aside from marijuana, police also confiscated the caliber .45 pistol with one magazine containing seven live ammunitions and the vehicle.
The PNP said the suspects will be charged for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Colera will also face charges for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar lauded the police officers for the operation.
“We will conduct further investigation into this to determine the scope of the operation of the suspects and to identify their supplier of marijuana. Isa rin sa ating aalamin ay ang network of distribution ng grupong ito,” he said.
