MANILA, Philippines – Two policemen from Rizal and Quezon City are facing dismissal from the service for allegedly engaging in illegal activities, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said he has ordered the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to expedite the investigation on the two cops who were arrested in separate operations.

The PNP identified the cop from Quezon City as Police Staff Sergeant Ariel Yalung, who was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the alleged illegal sale and overpricing of tocilizumab used for treating COVID-19 patients.

The NBI operation was conducted based on the complaint that two people were selling Tocilizumab online for P95,000. The suggested retail price of the medicine is P25,000.

On the other hand, the policeman from Rizal identified as Police Staff Sergeant June Angeles was arrested in an entrapment after he was accused of demanding money from the spouse of one of the detainees in San Mateo, Rizal.

He was nabbed by operatives of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG).

Eleazar called on the public to immediately report any information on police officers involved in unscrupulous activities.
