Up to P600 million worth of counterfeit goods, various food and beverages, and face masks were seized in an operation in Cavite, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the BOC said its operatives from the Port of Manila through the Port’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service Field Office (CIIS) and Enforcement and Security Service seized (ESS) seized the alleged smuggled and counterfeit items during an inspection in a warehouse in Tanza town.
“The inspection led to the discovery of infringing goods bearing the brands of Jordan, Nike, Crocs, and Havaianas to name a few,” the BOC said.
Other merchandise were also found which include assorted Chinese food, Chinese beverages such as beer, iced tea, and soda, and medical protective masks that are locally distributed by a group of Chinese nationals headed by Anna Ty and Willy Zhang.
The BOC said further investigation is underway for possible violations of Section 1114 of RA10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
