MANILA, Philippines – Based on 2014 4th quarter survey, three out of ten Filipinos are jobless.
According to the 4th quarter survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS), there are 27 percent or more than 12 million Filipinos that are unemployed.
9 percent had lost their jobs involuntarily or without renewal of contracts, while 14 percent had resigned and 3 percent are still first-time job seekers.
This is a record-high for 2014.
The annual average rate also remains the same.
In 2013 the recorded annual rate was at 25.2 percent, while 2014 has 25.4 percent.
Malacañang palace, however, was quick to defend its side.
According to Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., the top priority of the government are job creations and expansion of employment opportunities.
Secretary added that the Aquino administration will continue to push for programs that will increase the highly remunerative jobs that will tap the creativity and skills of Filipinos.
The said survey was conducted from November 7 to December 1 among 1,800 adults nationwide. (Joyce Balancio, UNTV News)
