Isang float sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Davao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Because this is how we celebrate the 78th Araw ng Davao.

The festivities started with a parade, participated by the different sectors of the society. Specifically, students from different schools, members of government and non-government organizations and the different tribes of Mindanao including the Maguindanao tribe.

Decorated floats were used in the parade, one of which showcased the winners of the Mutya ng Dabaw, with the crowned Mutya herself, Kris Abegail Guanzon.

Among the organizations that joined the parade is the Davao Horse Club, where horse enthusiast members paraded together with their horses.

One of them is the youngest horseback rider, Riohnna Alexandra Domingo, 6 years old, who won in last Saturday’s obstacle and barrel race in her category during the preliminary activities. Riohnna beat her opponents of 8 years old and below.

The oldest horseback rider, Atty. Jerry Olaguer, happily invited everyone to join the festivities.

Meanwhile one of the guest speakers of this event is Senator Alan Peter Cayetano who remains positive amid controversies in the peace process with the MILF.

The celebration here continues and the city is expecting more guests with the likes of politicians and celebrities. (Joeie Domingo / UNTV News)
