MANILA, Philippines – There is no political crisis brought about by the January 25 “Oplan Exodus” in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
This is the reaction of Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte due to the criticisms thrown at the Aquino administration after the Mamasapano incident.
According to Valte, the administration can overcome this, as it did before on previous issues such as the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and pork barrel fund issue.
“Every challenge is always seen by observers outside as a political crisis in our experience in the close to five years that the President has been in the office we have managed to overcome the challenges that have been presented to him,” she said.
Malacañang remains firm that the President has no direct involvement on the operations of Oplan Exodus where the SAF 44 were killed.
“There are things that were miscommunicated to him, I also would not begrudge him for the anger that he feels because he didn’t had the opportunity to act accordingly on the operations down below,” Valte added.
Malacañang insisted that from the beginning the President declared his accountability on the said incident.
The comment from former president Fidel V. Ramos, however that President Aquino should apologize has not been discussed yet.
“I can’t really tell you because we have not able to able to discuss these with him, so far he has been focus on what can be done in the aftermath of the January 25 incident and he has been focus,” Valte said. (Nel Maribojoc / UNTV News)
