The Philippine National Police and the Department Of Energy signed an agreement that is seen as very beneficial to the police force.

PNP OIC P/DDG. Leonardo Espina said, the 400-kilowatt solar power system will be installed at the National Headquarters in Camp Crame and is expected to cut down their monthly electricity bill.

“This will benefit us for a very, very long time and our energy consumption will be reduced. This will be very beneficial.”

Energy Sec. Jerico Petilla said, the PNP is the first among government agencies to be installed with the biggest solar generation system facility donated by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the countr.

Petilla added, he is also targeting the installation of solar generation system in the houses of policemen.

“We just need to know the mechanics, the financing, the technical, and convince everyone that this is going to help them.”

Petilla said this will be installed in policemen’s homes for free.

At the MOA signing in camp crame, Energy Sec. Jerico Petilla said this is a gadget that doesn’t need monitoring once installed because it will automatically obtain electricity from MERALCO when there is insufficient supply from the solar panel.

“During summer, we will get all our power from the solar [panels]. The solar power will be consumed first and only when there’s not enough power that we are going to tap power from MERALCO.” (LEA / UNTV News)
