QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Deputy Chief for Operations P/DDG Marcelo Garbo ordered the dismissal from the service of almost 100 policemen who failed to attend the hearings of drug cases.

PNP-AIDSOTF Legal and Investigation Division Chief P/CINSP. Roque Merdegia said based on Gen. Garbo’s order, there is no room for policemen whose negligence of their duties lead to losing the case.

Merdegia said, “Ipinag-utos na ng ating DCO na alisin sa serbisyo ang mga pulis na witness na di-umaattend sa hearing ng kaso nila.”

( DCO has ordered the dismissal from service of policemen who failed to attend court hearings they were witnesses to.)

Merdegia also added that PDEA sent them the list of names of the policemen who failed to attend hearings of illegal drug cases and who are supposedly the witnesses of the prosecution.

“Base dito sa endorsement ng PDEA na napakarami nitong pulis na karamihan ay NCRPO kaya bina-validate natin kung saan itong mga ito assigned ngayon para makasuhan criminally at administratively. Yung penalty dito ay dismissal from the police service.”

(Based on the endorsement of PDEA, there is a significant number of these policemen and  majority of them are  from NCRPO. We are now validating it to know their current assignments for the filing of administrative and criminal charges against them. Penalty shall be dismissal from police service.)

The policemen who are included in the list are those who act as poseur buyers and arresting officers in illegal drug cases with a rank of police officer 1 to police chief inspector.

PNP-AIDSOTF added that they sent the lists of names for immediate investigation to the directorate for personnel and resource management and directorate for investigative and detective management. (LEA YLAGAN / UNTV News)
