QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Garnering 19 points, 4 assists and several rebounds, Ariel Capus led the Judiciary Magis into defeating the Malacañang Patriots at a score of 85-72 in the second game of the championship playoffs of the UNTV Cup Season 3 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, April 28.
Capus, who was awarded the Most Valuable Player of UNTV Cup Season 3, offset Magis center Don Camaso’s absence in the court.
Camaso was rushed to the hospital after accidentally getting hit in the jaw and collapsing and hitting his face on the floor just within the first 2-minute mark of the game.

The Judiciary Magis dominated all quarters.
The biggest lead of the game at 60-53 was seen in the third quarter, thanks to the combined forces of Capus and Frederick Salamat.
The scores for the first and second quarters stood at 17-15 and 39-33, respectively.
Malacañang Patriots’ Samuel Ignacio had to step up the game during the fourth quarter, but to no avail after being heavily guarded by John Hall, who garnered a total of 22 points.
Judiciary Magis head coach Dennis Balason expressed, “We played to win maski nawala si Don. Hindi bumigay mga players ko, talagang nagsumikap kami para makuwa ito hanggang dulo.”
(We played to win even without Don (Camaso). It really helped my players to give our best until the end of the game.)
The Judiciary Magis received a cash prize of 2 million pesos, which they will donate to court personnel who suffered illness while in service and to the heirs of court personnel who died in service.
The Malacañang Patriots, on the other hand, have chosen the PSG Hospital and the cancer ward of Philippine Children’s Hospital as the beneficiary of their 1-million peso prize.
This is the second time the Judiciary Magis brought home the bacon, after winning in season 1.
During last season, the Magis placed third. (JP Ramirez / UNTV News)
