From the Department of Foreign Affairs
All passport renewal applicants may avail of an extension of their current passport for a period of not less than one (1) year but not more than two (2) years upon request.
While passport renewal is still subject to the normal fees, extension of validity of the current passport is free of charge.
Applicants availing of the passport extension are reminded to claim their renewed passports within 6 months of the original date of release. Passports unclaimed after 6 months will be disposed of, in accordance with existing government and DFA regulations. Applicants are also required to present their extended passports upon the release of their renewed passports.
For further inquiries, please contact the DFA-Office of Consular Affairs or the nearest Regional Consular Office, Mall-based Satellite Office or Philippine Embassies and Consulates in their area. Passport-related inquiries may also be sent via email to passportconcerns@dfa.gov.ph.
The DFA appreciates the continued cooperation and understanding of the public.
