Quezon City, Philippines — a total of about 250 missing vehicles that were recovered by the Highway Patrol Group are now impounded at Camp Crame.

Most of these vehicles have not yet been claimed by its owners.

Because of this, the Highway Patrol Group has launched a Facebook account named, “Recovered and Impounded Motor Vehicle.”

This will serve as an online channel of HPG’s “Kotse Mo, I-Click Mo” Program.

The said program aims to help car owners locate or retrieve their respective vehicles that have gone missing or were carnapped and could be under HPG’s custody.

The Facebook account publishes the image and description of impounded vehicles such as its chassis, engine number and plate number among others. Although some may have been repainted or the plates altered, owners can click on the image for proper identification. It also provides guidelines on what to do and where to claim the vehicles.

HPG Spokesperson P/Supt. Oliver Tanseco said, these vehicles were siezed through their anti-carnapping operations.

He added that owners would need to present original copies of the official receipt and certificate of registration or the personal identification card as well as the vehicle’s duplicate key to be able to claim it from HPG.

Tanseco said, “Pumunta lamang po kayo sa HPG. Dalhin nyo po ang mga dokumento na magpapatunay na sa inyo po ito at ibabalik po namin sa inyo kung wala rin lamang kaso na nakabinbin sa korte.”

(You may go to HPG and bring the necessary documents to validate ownership so that we could release the vehicle as long as there isn’t any pending case in court.)

Aside from those currently impounded at Camp Crame, photographs of vehicles recovered by HPG in different parts of the country can also be viewed on said Facebook account. (UNTV News)
