Marikina Persons With Disabilities, Incorporated was one of the PWD groups that received financial assistance from Ang Dating Daan on it’s 35th anniversary celebration in Smart-Araneta Coliseum last October 12, 2015.
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Guiness Book of World Records official adjudicator Fortuna Burke Melhelm was visibly moved by the songs of praises performed during the Old Path’s 35th anniversary celebration.
She was also overwhelmed by the various charity works of the program especially for the disabled persons.
The longest-running religious program—Ang Dating Daan celebrated its three and a half decades of being on-air through giving of gifts and financial assistance to almost two thousand persons with disabilities.
11 organizations of persons with disabilities were given by the Old Path and Members Church of God International 100 thousand pesos each to support their needs and to have a small start for a livelihood.
Among these groups are Marikina persons with disabilities federation incorporated and Parañaque Association of Persons with Disabilities.
They say it was such a big help for them especially to their indigent members.
Vice president of Marikina Persons with Disabilities Federation Inc. Gil Flores said, “It is the first time for us to receive such help for our federation. As you know, we have a lot of indigent members and this money coming from the Old Path can help us start a livelihood.”
“It really touches our heart and Bro. Eli’s message was indeed very moving. We didn’t know Bro. Eli has such a good heart… He has heart for us who are less fortunate,” said Ramil Jaictin, Founder of Parañaque Association of Persons with Disabilities.
In addition to these, a raffle was drawn where 30 persons with disability luckily brought home cash amounting to 30 thousand pesos each.
One of them was Jerico who is suffering from a bone disease and will be celebrating his birthday.
Meanwhile, 20 new wheelchairs were also distributed by Ang Dating Daan and Members Church of God International.
This is aside from the cash gift and grocery items for the 1,638 persons with disability who attended the event at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It was really emotional, it was also powerful that’s lots of charity works that came about here today and it was so incredible to see so many people coming together and doing so much good,” shared Fortuna Burke Melhelm, official adjudicator of Guinness World Records.
UNTV-BMPI CEO, Kuya Daniel Razon also expressed his gratitude to the attendees, “Your presence with us tonight, we are really grateful to God because we are given the opportunity to do our tasks. Thanks be to God for coming here tonight.” (UNTV News)
