MANILA, Philippines — The PNP Highway Patrol Group is planning to have premium buses in EDSA that will travel straight from North EDSA to Ayala, Makati.
These buses would load and unload passengers only at North EDSA and Ayala.
HPG Spokesperson Superintendent Grace Tamayo said, it is one of the options offered by their technical working group for a faster travel going to Makati area.
“Sa mga plans and program ng TWG na pinag-usapan, meron po tayong premium bus na coordinated din po ito sa mga bus company meron silang naka-alot na bus from SM North hanggang Ayala lang po.”
(Among the plans of our TWG is to have premium buses that are coordinated with bus companies. They would allot units that would travel without stopping from SM North to Ayala.)
Tamayo added that the project aims to encourage motorists to take public transport instead of using their own private vehicles to minimize traffic jams in EDSA.
“Ang purpose ay to lessen yung vehicle kasi kung sa isang bus ang capacity ay 50 at least 50 vehicle din ang mababawas natin na babagtas sa EDSA.”
(The purpose is to lessen the volume of vehicles because a bus has the capacity of 50, so at least 50 vehicles will be reduced in EDSA.)
Tamayo also said that it would be comfortable because they would only allow the exact sitting capacity and no standing commuters.
Furthermore, the HPG assures that there will be no fare hikes or roundtrips from North EDSA to Ayala.
For now, Tamayo said they already have 50 units which bus companies have volunteered as premium buses
Once implemented, terminals will be at SM North EDSA and Ayala avenue in Makati. (NEL MARIBOJOC / UNTV News)
