Sen. Grace Poe has accepted defeat from Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who now leads in the vote counting.

In the press conference held earlier today, Poe has expressed that she already accepts that she has lost and does not regret anything.

“I am proud to say that I, my team, my supporters, have not lost faith. We all believe in the advocacies that I promote. We fought fair and square.”

Sen. Poe also called Mayor Duterte over the phone in a hotel where the mayor stays at and congratulated him for his victory.

According to Poe, her concession does not mean surrender, but her respect to the election results and those who the Filipinos chose.

“I respect the election results. I congratulate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and I commit my cooperation in healing our nation and unity of the Filipinos towards a better nation,” the senator said.

Sen. Poe also said, she will focus on her duty as a senator which still lasts for three years.

Meanwhile, Sen. Chiz Escudero has also accepted defeat in the vice presidential race.

The senator thanked all their supporters and urged them to support whoever will win.

Sen. Escudero admits that from the start, they were at a disadvantage but they did not want to leave their supporters behind.
