TARLAC, Philippines — Generally peaceful and speedy. This is the assessment of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and Philippine National Police (PNP) Tarlac on the recently held election last Monday.
Compared to 2010 and 2013 elections, which took a few days for provincial board to proclaim winners, 2016 election can be considered one of the fastest elections in the history of Tarlac.
All winning candidates were proclaimed at the municipal level on Tuesday morning. At past three in the afternoon, winners at the provincial level were proclaimed as well.
Although there had been hitches in few municipalities due to malfunctioning vote counting machines, they were immediately replaced. In fact, not all spare machines had been used.
There are also allegations of vote buying in some areas and brewing enmity between supporters such as the case reported in the municipality of Capas. It is still subject for validation according to PNP.
