LAGUNA, Philippines — All 112 members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) of the Police Regional Office 4A have returned to their mother unit after their duty in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

They were deployed there to secure the voters and teachers who had served as Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) from threats of armed groups in the recently concluded national elections.

ARMM was one of the regions where police served as BEIs in some areas because teachers feared violence.

The police arrived at their mother unit in Laguna bearing memories of the election.

“While the voting was ongoing, it was normal to hear gun fires…I told them, we cannot allow anyone to just fire ot us and while we do nothing. The local police there told us to just hold the line,” narrated PO2 RJ Santos, one of the hundreds policemen deployed in Mindanao.

Aside from armed groups, they also witnessed obvious vote buying in exchange for huge amounts in Lanao del Sur.

Members of the RPSB will receive commendation on Monday for their gallantry in the recently concluded elections.

“They have shown exemplary discipline. They had strong resolve though they were new in the area. They were all proud and in high morale. I thank God. They have done their job well. For that, I will commend each and everyone of them,” OIC Regional Director PCSupt Ronald Santos proudly said.

Gen. Santos granted three-day vacation leave to all 112 police following their duties in Mindanao.
