QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is creating its own transition team prior to the proper change of command in line with the incoming administration.
The transition team, which will be headed by Chief Directorial Staff PDDG. Francisco Uyami, aims to properly turnover all projects concerning the PNP.
These include the ongoing and pending projects that have already been given budget such as the establishment of police station in various municipalities in the country as well as procurement of some needed equipment.
“This is what has been funded by the national government with P1.5 billion. So, there are ongoing constructions. Some have been deferred because of the election because they need to undergo proper bidding. They started the bidding process only now after the election,” said PDDG Danilo Constantino, Deputy Chief for Administration.
Included in the said projects are the strategy on crime prevention, focused police operations, investigation and community relation that could still be enhanced, revisions and improvements should the next police chief asked for and those who will become members of the next command group.
Incoming police chief Ronald Dela Rosa vows to continue some of the programs that have been initiated in the PNP such as the Oplan: ‘Lambat Sibat.’
“It’s not because it’s from the past administration that it’s not good. It’s still okay to sustain it with slight modification,” Dela Rosa said.
But according to him, he will definitely add the Oplan: ‘Tukhang’ which has been effective in the city of Davao. Through the operation, operatives knock on house doors of known personalities involved in illegal drug trade asking them to stop their criminal activities or else, leave the city.
