QUEZON CITY, Philippines — At past 7 this evening the joint canvassing committee has finished the canvassing of votes for presidential and vice presidential post, wherein the VP race result shows that Congresswoman Leni Robredo won against Senator Bongbong Marcos.
Based on the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) final official count, incoming President Rodrigo Duterte got 16,601,997 votes followed by Roxas: 9,978,175; Poe: 9,100,991; Binay: 5,416,140; Santiago: 1,455,532 and Señeres: 25,779.
Meanwhile, the official tally for the VP votes shows that Leni Robredo won by only 263,473 votes against Bongbong Marcos; Robredo got 14,418,817 while Marcos only had 14,155,344; Cayetano got 5,903,379 votes; Escudero: 4,931,962; Traillanes: 868,501 and Honasan: 788,881.
The Congressional joint session resumes at 2 in the afternoon on Monday to approve the committee report to be sent by the NBOC.
NBOC Senate panel chair Sen. Koko Pimentel says if the join session approves the committee report on Monday afternoon they can also do the proclamation right away.
