Over 25 million students in both elementary and high school are expected to enter schools on Monday, June 13.

Thus, the Department of Education assures that all classrooms are ready for use and all learning materials needed by student have been prepared.

The agency says students from kindergarten to grade 10 don’t need to worry about their learning materials because they would use old materials that have been use in the previous school year.

Meanwhile, books and modules have been readied for students of grade 11.

In case of delays in the delivery of some learning materials to other schools, the agency says they could download the soft copy through the agency’s portal.

“The whole K to 12 curriculum is actually in a portal accessible to teachers. The portal also contains the learner’s module. Our learner’s module is the version of our textbook. So, in the instance that the book is printed but not delivered yet, there are actual digitized copies,” said education secretary Armin Luistro.

The agency explains that each school that offers senior high school has a budget for reprinting to ensure that the students will be using the same learning materials.

Meanwhile, the DepEd will impose strict measures when it comes to late enrollees this school year. Based on school calendar, formal classes will begin on Monday.

“We want the students to be ready to go to school, lesson 1 on day one,” Luistro stressed.

“If students come late, we discourage that because I don’t say that’s a good practice. That’s not a good discipline to students but we have no heart to close the doors on those students,” he added.

DepEd has opened the early registration since January 30 for kindergarten to grade 10 which officially closed on February 29.

While the enrollment for senior high school started since Novermber 2015.

Luistro stressed the importance of early registration in order to give enough time for teachers to ready the policies and systems to be implemented in schools prior to the opening of classes.
