DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Incoming president Rodrigo Duterte appointed Ernesto Abella as one of his presidential spokespersons.
Abella said Duterte’s communication group wants to create a better relation with the media.
This is in line with the issue of boycott or the incoming president’s refusal to hold press briefings to avoid being misinterpreted.
“And i’d like to invite you to this conversation based on a cordial relationship and based on mutual trust. There’s been a lot of smoke. There’s been a lot of noise, but we’d like to get through that,” Abella said.
Abella clarifies that the incoming president wants to assure that his messages are being delivered clearly to the public.
“What i’d like to do is to have the office of the spokesman. Try to articulate as carefully as clearly as possible the true intentions of the President,” he said.
With abella’s appointment, Duterte now has three spokespersons including Martin Andanar and Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo.
