QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will no longer put up barricades and container vans as barriers along Commonwealth Avenue on President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address on Monday.

However, some parts of Commonwealth Avenue will be closed starting from Ever Gotesco mall to Sandiganbayan in front of Jocfer building.

NCRPO Chief PCSupt. Oscar Albayalde says they have not yet monitored any threat against Duterte’s SONA and so they do not expect any anti-government protest on Monday.

“We do not expect violent rallies though we expect rally of supporters of the President and we take lessons from Malacañang of [letting them enter.]” Albayalde said.

Ablayalde, however, says that they have prepared contingency plans should the President allow the protesters to get near the Batasan Complex.

Gen. Albayalde adds that they will deploy around 16, 000 police on the day of the SONA.

From which, 11, 000 will be deployed within the vicinity of the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

A total of 500 Special Action Force troopers will be assigned for Task Force Antabay.

Despite no threat monitored, the NCRPO assures that they will still impose full alert status in Metro Manila before this weekend.
