Alleged drug lord Peter Lim arrived earlier at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at around one in the afternoon.

With him was his legal counsel Atty. Ramon Esguerra.

Lim refused to face the media.

Atty. Esguerra said, Lim voluntarily presented himself to the NBI in accordance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte.

It can be noted that Lim met with President Rodrigo Duterte last week to deny that he is the alleged drug lord ‘Peter Lim’ being referred to by the President in his previous speech.

Duterte then told Lim to just present himself to the NBI to prove his innocence.

“He is not the Peter Lim referred to by the President. He is not the jaguard,” Atty. Esguerra said. “His conscience is clear. He has not done anything.”

Esguerra also noted that Lim assured the NBI that he will fully cooperate with them with regard to the investigations that the agency is conducting.

“What Mr. Lim promised the bureau is his utmost cooperation.”

The NBI has already created a fact finding team that would determine Lim’s involvement in the illegal drug operations in the Visayas.

This is headed by NBI Director 1 Roel Bolivar of the National Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force.

NBI says included in the investigation was the participation of Lim during a congressional hearing on illegal drugs ten years ago.

“He confirmed his participation in that congressional investigation,” said Dir. Ferdinand Lavin, Chief Internal Operations Divison.

But Lim’s lawyer noted that it was not proven during the 2006 hearing that his client was involved in illegal drugs operations. Atty. Esguerra now hopes that for the second time, Lim’s name will be cleared.
