VALENZUELA CITY— An alleged notorious druglord‘s life tragically comes to an end after a warranted search on suspected shabu laboratory at Brgy. Lingunan, Valenzuela City resulted in a deadly encounter at past 4 a.m. this morning.
According to Police Chief Inspector Albert Ferro, police operatives were implementing a search warrant against mainland Chinese Meco Tan, a purported bigtime drug personality when the latter got wind of the operation and quickly fled the scene in his white Honda Civic van.
Tan allegedly open fired at the pursuing mobile team, prompting an exchange of gunfire until the suspect’s van rammed the roadside pavement where police later found his lifeless body.
Members of PDEA were able to recover six bags of suspected shabu from Tan’s vehicle.
Based on PNP’s report, Tan began his illegal drug operations sometime in 2003 where 600kg of Shabu had been confiscated at Naic, Cavite.
He was also involved in a clandestine laboratory at Scout Chuatoco, Quezon City wherein 70kg of shabu and 3,500kg of ephedrine had been seized by the PNP AIDSOTF.
PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa says, Tan’s arrest implies that his agency is also running after big drug personalities and not just the “small fry” as critics would like to point out.
The chief also warned that this is just the beginning as operatives are gradually closing in on more top druglords who will also soon face arrest.
Dela Rosa was present at the operation to personally inspect the shabu lab when he found more Chinese nationals hiding inside it.
Two men and two women were arrested after they were found in possession of six more bags of suspected shabu in one of the rooms at the laboratory.
