DOT plans to integrate terminal fee to airplane tickets
Major airlines companies have agreed to the integration of the terminal fee into departing passengers’ airline ticket payments.
This transpired during the consultation meeting attended by officials of the Civil Aviation Authority and airline executives.
Under the plan, the domestic passenger service charge commonly known as terminal fee, will be collected by the airlines as part of ticket payment.
This is pursuant to the agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte to fast-track the processes and systems in government.
“Once we integrate the terminal fee to the plane ticket paid by passengers, long queues and delays will be lessen when we visit the airport,” DOT spokesperson Ina Zara-Loyola said in a phone interview.
The tourism department is now coordinating with the private sector for the said plan.
The DOT also encourages the local air carriers and CAAP board to agree with the terms and conditions in the memorandum of agreement.
“Once the moa is signed, we will implement it most probably and hopefull by October. We just need to count 30 days and we will make the IRR and we can implement it,” Zara-Loyola said.
Local carriers include Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Sea Air, Sky Jet, Air Juan, and Air Asia.
There are 81 CAAP terminals but only a few implement the integration of terminal fee in the plane tickets.
