President Rodrigo Duterte wants to meet with Chinese ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua to confirm reports that there are Chinese barges seen near Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough shoal.
These indicate new construction of artificial islands in the area.
However, the president oncea gain says he will not bring up the maritime dispute issue in the upcoming ASEAN Summit, pointing out that the time will come when he will have to meet and have a one-on-one discussion with his Chinese counterpart about the arbitral tribunal ruling.
