The Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police assures that every public area in the country, especially in Metro Manila, is being guarded by the military and the police.
That is why DILG Secretary Mike Sueno says people should cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activities or personalities.
“Let’s be very careful. We will coordinate very closely with the military, PNP and we will ask volunteers from the people,” Sueno said.
This, after the DILG confirmed intelligence report they have received regarding the presence of four female suicide bombers in Metro Manila that target to attack malls and other public places.
“There are supposedly 4 women but we don’t know where and when they plan to detonate and what kind of bombing they will employ, like suicide bombing or IED,” Sueno added.
The DILG has already activated its intelligence group to look for complete information about this threat.
“It’s very reliable because this came from an intelligence government agency group that is why we don’t ignore it. We are giving importance.”
For their part, however, the Armed Forces of the Philippines is calling on people to cooperate with them. Because this incidence of threat is nothing new to them.
They appeal to the people not to spread this threat on social media or through text messaging.
“What we should do is contact the nearest security forces in the area. If it is police or military or local government, give the information to them because they have the capacity and the capability to validate this information,” AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Edgard Arevalo.
In addition, the PNP appeals to the people to stay calm and if they see any suspicious thing they should not touch.
The agency also warns the people not to make a bomb threat joke as it is against the law. — Grace Casin | UNTV News & Rescue
