MANILA, Philippines — Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda formally turned over the leadership of the Philippine Army to Major General Rolando Bautista.
Bautista admitted having mixed emotions on being designated to the new post.
The former commander of Task Force Marawi believes martial law should remain implemented in Mindanao.
This is to prevent other forces from hampering the rehabilitation process in Marawi.
“There were reports na magi-infiltrate sila sa mga controlled area, part of the diversionary tactic. Guguluhin nila ang mga peaceful municipalities and replicate the Marawi siege,” Bautista said.

Meanwhile, President Duterte will appoint newly retired Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda as board member of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority
In his speech, President Duterte emphasized again that he is ready to step down if anyone can prove that he has more than P40-million in his bank account.
“Sabi ko nga (as I’ve said), ‘Please oust me if I tell a lie to you’,” Duterte said.
He also stressed that he has no interest in pursuing peace with the communist groups.
“At this stage I am not ready to talk to them because it is not good for the country. Kung para lang sa bayan ok yan (if it’s for the country, that’s okay), but the way it is now, ayaw ko (I don’t want to). And maybe it would take some time, maybe another president, to do it,” Duterte added.
Before ending his speech, he promised the soldiers to double their salary by January 2018 and he also reminded them to remain faithful in the country and to the national flag. – Rosalie Coz | UNTV News & Rescue
